Virtual meetings are undermining productivity and causing burnout.
But HR tech, such as Rewatch, is here to help.
Rewatch has just raised $20 million to support its platform that gives companies access to their video meetings in one place.

Too many meetings are killing employee productivity, as well as contributing to extreme burnout in the workplace.
To tackle so-called Zoom fatigue, some employers are turning to meeting-free days, while others are embracing HR tech tools.
One such HR tech startup that aims to make meetings more productive is San Francisco-based Rewatch, which today raised $20m in a Series A round led by Andreessen Horowitz. This VC firm recently invested in Deel, another HR tech firm.
Existing investors from January’s $2m seed round – Semil Shah at Haystack and Kent Goldman at Upside Partnership – also participated in the Series A.
As a result of this Series A investment, Rewatch is opening up its platform beyond just invite-only subscribers – including GitHub, The Athletic and Gatsby – to all interested parties.
Rewatch plans to use this funding to further build out its team.
Tackling Zoom fatigue head on
Launched in early 2020, Rewatch aims to help companies and team members handle their video archive.
Rewatch’s system is not simply a portal of old live video calls; it is also a platform to search and organise the contents of the calls themselves. It also provides automatic transcriptions of the calls, like Otter and Spot Meetings.
Rewatch’s secure platform integrates into Google Meet and Zoom – meetings held on those platforms are automatically imported into the system. Meetings held on other platforms are also compatible with Rewatch’s technology, they just need to be manually imported.
In a blogpost, founder and CEO Connor Sears wrote: “Just over a year ago, many workplaces found themselves suddenly – in some cases, almost exclusively – communicating over video. Video promised to recreate what many of us had left behind in the office: real-time human connection.”
However, this led to the Zoom fatigue and, in the words of Sears, “knowledge locked away in a few people’s heads and, as a result, a new kind of organizational misalignment. While video has taken center stage in today’s era of hybrid and remote work, our tools simply haven’t kept up.”
As a result, Rewatch is focused on “unlocking
, for every teammate, everywhere. The future of video at work is collaborative, discoverable, and accessible.”
Andreessen Horowitz general partner David Ulevitch commented: “There is an urgent need for new tools that can empower employees to collaborate more efficiently and cross-functionally, increase transparency across an organization, and strengthen company culture in a virtual setting.
“This is why we were so excited to meet Connor and Scott and hear about what they were building at Rewatch.”
