Paradox, a software development company based in Arizona, US, has recently appointed Adam Godson as Chief Executive Officer.
Godson will be taking the reigns from Aaron Matos, the company’s founder, who will now be moving into the Executive Chairman role.
As a global leader leveraging conversational AI, Paradox works with some of the world’s biggest companies – such as General Motors, McDonald’s, Marriott International, CVS Health, and Nestlé – to assist them with their hiring work.
AI is going to play an essential role in the next era of talent acquisition,” Godson says. “Every team will need to understand how to harness AI to get work done, along with the benefits and risks. In many ways it reminds me of the early days of the world wide web.
“Everyone knows change is coming, but it’s not exactly clear how it will look. It’s easy to get paralyzed with envisioning what the future may look like, but far better to start with the right early use cases. Have AI do interview scheduling, basic screening of applicants, reminders to get things done and we’ll work our way forward from there.”
UNLEASH America is truly an experience worth having as an HR professional. The tech exposure and engagement with the talent in the room are invaluable. I hope to be a part of the UNLEASH cohort for years to come.
Godson will be taking the helm after Paradox achieved a long list of accomplishments in 2023, including becoming an SAP Endorsed partner, being recognized as an early adopter of Workday’s AI Marketplace, and also honored as a Workday Partner Innovation Award winner. Additionally, the business has been named on the Inc. 5000 for three years, and Deloitte’s Fast 500 twice.
Driving the future of conversational AI
Starting his career as an HR practitioner, Godson progressed up the career ladder becoming the Chief Technology Officer at Cielo, a talent acquisition partner. In 2020, he moved to Paradox as Chief Product Officer, and was promoted three years later to President, leading the company’s global product and engineering teams.
Through this role, Godson and his team say they helped the business achieve more than 1,000% growth, which has also allowed Paradox to welcome hundreds of new clients.
Excited about his new role, Godson believes that Paradox will help to drive the advancement of AI. “For large organizations, AI can help the most because of the scale at which they can automate,” he says. “Doing similar things thousands of times creates valuable data to help improve AI where it can do its best work.
We have a long way to go to make talent acquisition a process that people love, so we need to keep pushing boundaries to improve experience for candidates and efficiency for companies.”
Although Godson believes that the promise of AI is immense, he expresses that it doesn’t need to be intimidating. Explaining this, he highlights research from Harvard Business Review, which found that 97% of organizations using AI for automation are finding value, but just 11% of organizations are actually using it.
“There is lots of value to be created in safe and compliant ways”, he says, “that can automate the administrative work and free people up to spend time with people, which is the point of talent acquisition anyway.”
As the founder of Paradox, Matos expresses his confidence in Godson, while also looking optimistically at the future.
He says: “As we look to our next chapter, Adam is the ideal steward for Paradox’s future. He’s passionate about recruiting and HR and he cares deeply about the people he serves. Adam is a great partner and we share an obsession for transforming this industry — and our clients’ organizations — for the better. I couldn’t be more excited for our clients and Team Paradox.”
Moving on from his current role, Matos will continue his work for Paradox as Executive Chairman, serving as an advisor and mentor to Godson, the Board of Directors and the leadership team.
With Godson, the pair will continue to shape the company’s strategic vision and future innovations.
