MGM International Resorts is a S&P 500 business, which brought in a revenue of $16.2 billion in 2023.

Read on to find out what Chopra will be discussing during her session.
With less than 24 hours to go, we can barely hold in our excitement for UNLEASH America 2024; the International Festival of HR is almost here!
But to tease our readers a little more with what’s to come, we’re proud to share our final Road to Vegas interview of the year, with MGM Resorts International’s very own Chief People, Inclusion & Sustainability Officer, Jyoti Chopra.
Chopra, who will be taking to the stage on Wednesday 8th May to discuss Viva Las Vegas: Winning Strategies from the Top Las Vegas Resorts on Nurturing and Retaining Talent, exclaims she’s “incredibly excited” to experience the magic of UNLEASH America.
And to make matters even better, she will be appearing on stage to discuss the current talent landscape, alongside industry experts, Stephanie Lepori of Caesars Entertainment, Matt Krystofiak of The Venetian Resort Las Vegas, and Nadine Jones of Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
The group will take a deep dive into identifying what the talent landscape looks like, specifically for the gaming-hospitality-entertainment industry, as well MGM International’s Human Resources Technology Transformation journey.
Attendees tuning in will have the chance to hear MGM’s story firsthand, as well as the business’ journey, lessons learned along the way, and best practices that have yielded success.
But if you can’t wait until then (and we don’t blame you if you can’t!), read on to find more exclusive insights from Chopra.
There’s no doubt about it – MGM Resorts International is a gaming and entertainment giant, boasting 31 locations nationally and globally.
But the S&P 500 business is also committed to creating a more sustainable future, while striving to make a positive impact on the lives of its employees, guests, and the communities in which it operates.
Cue: Jyoti Chopra.
Since 2020, MGM Resorts has been investing a great deal of effort into its cultural journey, particularly by focusing on employee value proposition, training, and recognition.
“We started by assessing quantitively and qualitatively the current state of our organization from a cultural perspective, seeking out feedback from our people and conducting listening tours and focus groups, in addition to a survey,” Chopra explains.
We leveraged the findings to refresh our company values, develop supporting messaging and integrate culture into our talent processes, leadership competencies, and other facets of our work, including our corporate strategy.”
She continues to explain that the business developed a refreshed employee value proposition centered on unlimited growth, meaningful relationships, competitive rewards, and exclusive perks and experiences.
“Our company invested in a new service recognition program based on years of services and distributed over 38,000 pins to our employees just last year. And we’ve invested in more robust learning, education, training and development employees across all levels of our workforce.”
But that’s not all. MGM Resorts has also undergone a rapid HR transformation journey with a focus on centralizing the business’s data sets onto a single platform – Workday.
In doing so, Chopra explains how her team are working to bring all our property locations, recent acquisitions, and corporate groups onto the platform.
She says: “We worked on optimization of Workday to enhance our talent lifecycle processes and to automate as much as possible. Think talent reviews, talent mapping, incentive payouts, merit planning, as examples.
Additionally, we moved to digital human capital dashboards for all reporting. Today, our business leaders and operators have real time access to people data, including hiring, promotions, and turnover, for their departments.”
Very soon, Chopra will be captivating UNLEASH America’s audience while discussing these topics and many more. She says: “I’m incredibly excited to participate in UNLEASH America, and to listen and learn from so many other companies and colleagues who are attending the conference this year.
“It’s a unique forum for sharing, exchanging ideas and best practices and strengthening networks.”
