UNLEASH World 2024: ‘We have to see more opportunities than risks’ with Gen AI

Jean-Sebastien Blanc, EVP of HR at Engie, sat down with UNLEASH Chief Reporter Allie Nawrat at UNLEASH World 2024 for an exclusive interview, discussing the role of Gen AI at the French energy giant.

Following his session on stage in Paris, where he detailed how AI is “in the DNA of Engie”, Blanc sat down with UNLEASH to explain why the opportunities that Gen AI presents are far more important than the risks.

Explaining how Engie uses AI to help predict the energy needs of its 20 million customers, Blanc said it is vital that organizations and HR leaders embrace the potential of Gen AI.

“Is it a revolution or is it evolution? To be honest, I don’t care,” he told UNLEASH.

What’s very important is that it’s full of opportunity, and the opportunity is more on augmenting the capability of the individual to be more efficient and to spend less time on stupid things that you can eradicate with Gen AI.”

Blanc also explained how Gen AI can help develop workforces at scale, particularly where it concerns future career paths and learning.
