$1 billion-revenue cloud content company Box has just switched up its executive team.
The US-headquartered cloud giant has appointed Samantha Wessels as its President for Europe and the Middle (EMEA). She will replace Sebastien Marotte.
This appointment demonstrates the company’s commitment to the European market.
Box has been operating in EMEA since 2012, and it has a strong footprint with offices in London, Paris, Munich, Amsterdam and Warsaw.
Plus, Box already supports big European brands like AstraZeneca, Arriva, Eurostar, Rémy Cointreau, and the Met Police with new cloud-powered innovative ways of working.
Wessels brings 20 years of experience of working in the tech sector in Europe to her new role at Box.
She has served in VP of Sales roles in brands like American-Dutch AI company Elastic and US-headquartered cybersecurity company SYNK. Wessels is also a member of Chief, the world’s largest network of senior female executives.
Talking about the appointment, Box’s COO Olivia Nottebohm said: “Samantha’s appointment underscores our commitment to providing our EMEA customers with cutting-edge solutions and unparalleled support.
Her track record of growing teams and driving business growth will be instrumental in accelerating the EMEA business, while navigating the unique opportunities and challenges of the EMEA market.
“I would also like to thank Sebastien Marotte for his three years of leadership at Box, and wish him the best in his next endeavor.”
The future of Box in EMEA
UNLEASH had the chance to chat to interview Wessels about her exciting news.
Focusing on her plans for EMEA, Wessels shares: “This is an incredibly diverse market with unique opportunities and challenges.
“In the coming months, I look forward to working with the leadership team to further hone our strategy and accelerate the business.”
Given her experience in the AI sector, it is no surprise the Wessels is excited to see how AI will transform Box in Europe and beyond.
She tells UNLEASH: “It’s clear that AI will completely revolutionize how we can work with enterprise information. Companies are accelerating the adoption of the cloud, and transforming how they work with content through AI.
“As a model-agnostic platform for bringing AI to enterprise content, Box has security, governance and compliance built into the core.
“Sitting at the convergence of today’s major tech trends of business process automation, AI powered innovation, and the need for secure data protection, Box is uniquely positioned to enable enterprises to address these trends.
Box surpassed a billion dollars in an annual revenue in fiscal year 2024, and is now on a path to two billion. It’s an incredibly exciting time to join the team and take part in that journey.”
