World-leading thought leader and psychotherapist Esther Perel has been named as Culture Amp’s new advisor – the first person to ever hold this position for the company.
Perel has made a name for herself as an emerging voice of relationships in the workplace.
The vendor says she will offer strategic guidance to help craft the direction of its platform and enhance its agenda to produce valuable experiences and insights for its customers.
Her journey at Culture Amp first started in 2019, when she became the first guest on the company’s podcast. She was also a keynote speaker at Culture First Global, Culture Amp’s leading workplace event.
In a statement, CultureAmp said Perel’s new appointment demonstrates the commitment from both parties to build stronger interpersonal connections for the workplace and beyond.
The New York Times bestselling author will also have a focus on relational intelligence.
“Most people are not living in the same town they grew up in the way their parents did. The same goes for work,” Perel says.
“If their grandparents lived and died in the same town and held the same job until they retired, today’s employees move homes and jobs with unparalleled frequency.”
She continued to explain that many individuals have severed ties to the geographies, communities, and institutions that once helped form a sense of belonging and identity. Although this has created an unprecedented expectation for work, it’s opened several opportunities to make employment something special.
“We used to go to work to ‘make a living’,” she adds, “now we go to work to ‘make meaning.’”
Driving the future for Culture Amp
As a business, Culture Amp works closely with thousands of leaders, all wanting to make an impact and build high-performing teams. From experience, the company has found that one of the core issues to be navigated is the relationships employees have with each other in the workplace.
“Work is never just about work. It never was. Esther brings such incisive insight and wisdom to these conversations that leaders the world over are turning to her to help them navigate,” Didier Elzinga, Culture Amp’s co-founder and CEO.
“We are delighted to work at an even deeper level with Esther to both bring innovation to our product and to bring more of her wisdom to leaders around the world driving cultures of high performance”, Elzinga explains.
Perel will now have the chance to work with Culture Amp’s team of people scientists, while gaining exclusive access to the company’s extensive database, which has more than 1.3 billion data points, to help inform her work.
“I am honored to collaborate with Culture Amp as an advisor. Their mission – to create a better world of work – has never been more critical. And together, my hope is that we will inspire meaningful change and foster healthier relationships within organizations globally,” Perel concludes.
