Telecommunications and IT giant Nokia, which generated a staggering €22.26 billion revenue in 2023, has appointed Lorna Gibb as its new Chief People Officer and member of the Group Leadership Team.
Gibb will take the position with immediate effect, taking the role after Ricky Corker stepped down as Nokia’s Chief Customer Experience Officer earlier in the year.
After joining Nokia in 2020, Gibb has been Nokia’s Interim Chief People Officer since March 2024. Before taking on this role, she held the position of Vice President, Labor and Employment, being a member of Nokia’s People and Legal & Compliance Leadership Teams.
In an exclusive conversation with UNLEASH, Gibb says: “I am honored to lead the people function at Nokia, helping to further shape its culture, develop talent strategies, and ensure the organization is equipped to achieve its business goals.
“Given the telecom industry is constantly evolving with new technologies and market demands, a key priority is to ensure the company adapts to these changes and remains at the forefront of technological advancements.”
The future direction of Nokia
With more than 20 year’s experience, Gibbs has a strong understanding of how to attract and retain key talent at Nokia, Pekka Lundmark, President and CEO of Nokia says.
She has previously held roles as Global People Director for Skyscanner and People Partner/Director for EasyJet, and is confident in “leading the evolution” of Nokia’s culture and people strategy in the future.
Leading an international team and forging trusted partnerships drew me to this role, enabling me to deliver innovative, strategic solutions globally in line with Nokia’s business objectives,” Gibb explains.
“Going forward, I have a strong vision to develop the people function and strategy to attract and retain talent, creating an inclusive workplace and providing our employees with access to the right tools and support to deliver at their best.”
