Over the past eighteen months, UNLEASH conducted research with over 1000 global organizations, with combined HR tech budgets of more than $4 billion, to form our 2020 ‘Why HR Projects Fail’ report and prepare businesses as they look to completely retool their organizations in 2021.
This was not the first warning in this area but part of a consistent cry for change that is reaching its climax
“Only 16% of projects are considered highly successful?” proclaims Menno Olgers, Director Aegon Global In-House IT/BPO Center. “That’s just as low as the average percentage of highly engaged employees in an average company.
“It’s one of the most shocking results for me in this research and especially as it represents over $4 billion in managed HR tech budget and investments.”
Menno is one of many influential business leaders reacting to the insights in the groundbreaking report.
“Imagine the amount of money being evaporated over something that can make or break organizations?” he adds. “This is not the first warning I’ve seen in this area but part of a consistent cry for change that is reaching its climax when you add the consequences of this year’s pandemic in the mix.”
“Backed up with so much data insight, UNLEASH is proving once again that it is time to reinvent the way we look at operating companies, and this time their research also makes a compelling case that focusing on a mindset of transformation and growth is a key success factor in any project.”
Menno agrees action is needed as we head into 2021.
He continues: “I do argue we need to take it a step further. A mindset of transformation will flourish when we change our focus from employee experience to human experience making it easier to tap into passion and purpose at every level of scale.”
Technology is not an end station, nor an end goal. It’s an enabler that brings companies closer to fulfilling their full potential whatever that may be.
“True company purpose requires translation to understand problems we all understand and believe in. Tech is not an end station, nor an end goal. It’s an enabler that brings companies closer to fulfilling their full potential whatever that may be,” he says.
“My takeaway now is to ask: What’s your unique gift to this world? And how does your project help you deliver that? If you can’t answer this simple question, hold your horses. Or consider pulling the plug because you might be part of the 84% of failed projects that are wasting your valuable time and resources,” Menno adds.
