In the first HR tech M&A of the week, IT solutions provider Unisys has acquired Unify Square for $152.5 million in an all-cash deal.
The deal will combine Unisys’ digital workplace capabilities – including Unisys IntelliServe – with Unify Square’s unified communications as a service (UCaas) offering, which tries to help teams collaborate and communicate more effectively, particularly in the new world of remote working.
Unify Square’s software claims to also help global companies analyze the success of their collaboration tools, thereby ensuring teams are effective and productive at work.
The idea is that that the two companies’ offerings will help to improve business-wide communications, as well as boost employee experiences in remote and digital work environments, which look set to be the future of work.
In addition, the acquisition will help Unisys provide compliance and security capabilities to employers, thereby helping HR teams to develop policies around communication relevant to the digital and hybrid future of work.
Unisys CEO and chair Peter Altabef commented: “The acquisition of Unify Square will enhance Unisys’ digital workplace services business to drive increased revenue growth and improved profitability and cash flow.
“The UCaaS market, in which Unify Square operates, is expected to be among the fastest-growing segments of the digital workplace services market.
“Unify Square’s capabilities will enable Unisys to deliver higher-value solutions to its clients that enhance their productivity and employee satisfaction.”
Unify Square CEO John Case added: “Unisys and Unify Square hold a shared vision for how businesses can more easily adapt to the new reality of a hybrid workforce.
“Together with Unisys, we will have a unique opportunity to help more enterprises thrive in this new digital workplace environment.”
