Workday, a leader in enterprise cloud applications for finance and human resources, has announced a new product designed to combat the challenges that were introduced by the pandemic.
The software company, that offers a suite of applications, has recognized employee retention and engagement issues during the pandemic. These problems have been punctuated by the ‘Great Resignation’ which has seen many leave work because they are unhappy with the benefits they receive.
Workday explains: “New retention and productivity challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent hybrid work models have prompted organizations to adopt technologies capable of supporting their workforces in more meaningful ways.
“This has become a priority for chief human resources officers (CHROs) and chief information officers (CIOs) looking to provide the best experiences possible for their people”
This situation has led to the company developing Workday Everywhere, which focuses on the productivity, wellbeing, and engagement of employees.
In an effort to improve employee and productivity, Workday Everywhere uses machine learning (ML) for the personalization and prediction of tasks.
By using ML, the platform intends to surface the right information, tasks, insights, and recommendations to employees when they need them. It does this by anticipating what actions may need to be taken or what items require attention at that moment.
Workday uses the example of machine learning prompting an employee to take some time off if they have gone an extended period without taking a vacation.
In terms of engagement, Workday has made its data readily available on the go, and people can access it on their mobile and other portable devices. This would allow an employee to take a photo of a receipt, then create and submit this expense item in Workday while within the Slack interface.
When it comes to adapting to these new features, Workday Everywhere is said to enable CIOs to easily bring Workday into their existing IT ecosystem. This is because all data is transmitted between Workday and the user with the same security and data privacy standards as other Workday applications.
Workday and employee experience
Speaking about Workday Everywhere, Josh Bersin, a global industry analyst, said: “Employee experience is now a top priority for CEOs around the world, yet the proliferation of tech platforms makes this difficult.”
Workday Everywhere “lets employees access Workday from any platform, making life easier for workers, managers, HR, and IT,” adds Bersin.
