Automating and streamlining processes have become an increasingly important priority for businesses as repetitive tasks have led to employee burnout and loss of productivity.
In an attempt to remove the repetitive tasks faced by payroll employees, Zellis, a leading provider of payroll and HR software, has partnered with Experian to bring an automated employment and income verification service to its clientele. The service is called Work Report.
Work Report was developed by Experian and Salary Finance and intends to be a first-of-its-kind digital service that automates the time-consuming process of sharing payroll and employment information. This technology will enable instant and secure information that can be used for a range of services including applications for mortgages.
The product gives employees the ability to choose to digitally share their payroll information directly from their employer to a trusted third party.
It is hoped that the Work Report function will help with employee financial wellbeing, improve the consumerization of typically tedious tasks, and relieve the stresses of sorting documentation.
How does Work Report work?
UNLEASH was lucky enough to catch up with Zellis CEO, John Petter, who notes the importance of Work Report as a payroll offering.
He explains that with this functionality an employee can go “through an order journey, have a choice to share their data instantly and securely, and in such a way that it’s verified but not saved. There’s no kind of permanent footprint that the company has on you, but the check is done there in the moment.”
Petter adds: “We [Zellis] think that [Work Report] will both help some of our customers who and today have large operations doing HR administration, giving references to landlords, and mortgage lenders, and all-around shuffling paper and sending files on emails.”
Importantly, this will be done accurately and avoid the human errors of sending messages to the wrong people.
Drilling down on the benefits that this functionality would give Petter comments: “From the colleague’s point of view, with a focus on financial wellbeing, we think that giving people easier access to credit can only help them. It feels like a good thing to do.”

When it comes to working with Experian, Petter reflects: “We’re really pleased to be partnering with Experian because they’re a complete world-class business, and they’ve got a good reputation for keeping data securely.”
Perhaps the most notable thing that employees will notice is the consumerization of processes through this feature.
Making process quick and painless is important to people, particularly as it’s the user experience in many other aspects of life.
Looking ahead, George Dunnett, chief product officer at Zellis, said in a press statement: “Work Report is a fantastic product that will help our customers’ HR teams save a huge amount of time.
“It’s equally great for their employees, supporting their financial wellbeing and offering a smoother, and more intuitive process. We are delighted to be working in partnership with Experian to bring this service to market.”
Paul Speirs, managing director of consumer information at Experian, concluded: “People are required to share their personal financial information to access services all the time – whether it’s for a mortgage, credit card or to rent a property. Work Report enables people to share that info more quickly, conveniently, and securely.
“We are thrilled that the Zellis Group, which provides services for about one in every six workers in the UK, is extending the incredible value of Work Report across its entire portfolio.”
