HR tech has made it possible for teams to communicate and collaborate effectively while working from home during the pandemic.
Now Meta, the new name for social media giant Facebook, and Microsoft are deepening their HR tech relationship by officially launching new integrations between communication platform Workplace from Meta and Microsoft Teams.
This comes on the back of previous integrations between Workplace from Meta and Microsoft SharePoint, One Drive, the Office 365 Suite and Azure AD.
The new integrations include a new Workplace from Meta app for Teams that is pinned to the navigation bar, as well as the ability to livestream video from Teams into Workplace groups.

Talking about the new partnership, Microsoft teams corporate vice-president of product and engineering Jeff Teper said: “One thing I learned from the pandemic is that companies don’t just rely on one tool to get their work done, so it is our responsibility as leaders in the space to make sure the tools they use integrate and interoperate with each other.
“We have a shared vision of offering our customers choice and flexibility, so it made sense for us to come together to help our mutual customers unlock collaboration and break down silos within their organizations.”
Over the past few months, some of Workplace’s big clients have been trialing the integrations. Examples include Vodafone and Flight Centre Travel Group.
Flight Centre Travel Group’s head of digital workplace Nick Williams reflected on the trial: “Workplace enables our agents to connect with colleagues beyond their direct teams, breaking down silos across brands and business groups in ways we’ve never been able to before.
“The new Teams and Workplace integration will mark another important step in our goal of fostering community and collaboration across all of our employees.
“By creating a bridge between our company’s community hub (Workplace) and teamwork hub (Teams), employees will be able to access the most important information, whether they’re in an office or in the field, and feel connected at all times.”
Now Meta and Microsoft are working on integrating Microsoft Teams call onto the Meta Portal. The portal aims to allow more immersive experiences with Teams calls.
