UNLEASH World 2024: ‘Leadership is not for the Faint Hearted’: It Requires an Agile Mindset
At UNLEASH World 2024, Mary Glowacka, Head of Learning & Leadership Development at Rolls Royce, sat down with UNLEASH for an exclusive interview to discuss why developing the qualities of leadership throughout an organization is crucial.
On stage at UNLEASH World 2024 in Paris, Rolls Royce’s Head of Learning & Leadership Development, Mary Glowacka, explained how the 120-year-old company has embraced the spirit of experimentation to aid its development of leadership throughout the company.
Speaking to UNLEASH Senior Journalist John Brazier in an exclusive interview, Glowacka details that Rolls Royce aims to foster leadership capabilities regardless of employee role, function or experience.
“We believe that ideas that solve real problems in our company and for our customers and our clients can come from anywhere in the company,” she tells UNLEASH.
A significant element of this is allowing employees the freedom to try new ideas and collaborate with colleagues in other parts of the business, as well as adopting leadership mindset growth from the start.
“I would encourage any company to start thinking about leadership as early as possible in the employee lifecycle,” Glowacka explains.
As soon as you embrace someone as part of your company – who may have literally just finished school actually – it’s important to have systemic mechanisms as an organization to understand how early on you can start building that future leadership talent that will effectively continue to run your company for many, many years to come.”
