Beyond the Expo: UNLEASH America with Atlas CEO

My name is Jim McCoy. I’m the CEO at Atlas. 

Atlas is the largest direct Employer of Record company with operations in 160 countries where we effectively are the employer for individuals, working on behalf of other companies that don’t have operations in those countries. 

What are your top takeaways from your Strategic Alliances Summit panel discussion at UNLEASH America?

We talked about how, as an organization, you can best enable strategic alliances to grow your business and what it takes for successful partnerships in strategic alliances, and how you can really create value for your organization overall. 

What is your advice to those HR leaders seeking to form an alliance?

As I think about it from an HR leader perspective, alliances come in many different forms, including starting with your own internal alliances to get work done.  

One of the things we talked about was understanding the things you do well as an organization, either as an HR leader within an organization or as an HR services provider, and figuring out what the things are that you need to complement your business so that you offer the most fulsome service to your end clients. 

What would you say are some of the trends shaping HR right now?

We all talk a lot about AI, but I would say that AI is going to change a lot of the way that we do work, to enable us to focus much more on strategic work. 

I think some of the more critical things that are happening in HR for all of us to pay attention to are shifting trends in how people work, where they seek employment, the way they want to work with organizations. And, what’s so exciting at the conference here, is to see so many different ways that you can identify talent, enable that talent, and employ that talent. 

What does Atlas have to offer HR leaders?

The critical thing in our business for a very long time has been compliance, but compliance doesn’t do you a whole lot of good if you don’t have a workforce strategy that complements what your business is trying to do. 

You should be able to look to an EoR provider, in particular, Atlas, to focus on ‘Can Atlas help me understand where the best pockets of talent are?’, ‘How do I tap into that talent?’,  ‘How do I make sure that I have an employer of choice experience for that talent?’, and then ‘How do I make sure that as that talent matures, that I’m doing the things to keep them engaged in my organization over the long term?’. That’s where Atlas has really developed it’s product set to complement that. 

What have people at home missed out on by not being at UNLEASH America?

First of all, I feel like UNLEASH has basically reignited the excitement around having a bunch of like thinkers together in a room, talking about real issues that matter. 

What I particularly love about UNLEASH is that everything is designed to maximize the interaction with the most number of people possible. 

As a participant and a sponsor, the access that we’ve had has been fantastic. The casual conversations that you have with people walking through the exhibit hall, coming in and out of sessions, has been really good. 

The excitement around it has just been tremendous. 

For us, it has been an incredibly valuable investment to be here, not only in the time, but also in making sure that we get to share this experience with as many of our clients as possible, and also getting to know prospective new clients while we’re here.
