UNLEASH World 2024: ‘We want to empower humanity through AI’: But humans need to be in the driver’s seat
In an exclusive conversation with Birgit Bohle, CHRO of Deutsche Telekom, UNLEASH explores the importance of the sustainable integration of AI, touching upon the ethical, ecological, and societal risks.
After taking to the stage at UNLEASH World 2024, Birgit Bohle, CHRO of Deutsche Telekom sat down to share her thoughts on the sustainable integration of AI in greater depth.
“For us in Deutsche Telekom, we want to make AI an accelerator for our strategy. And that requires that we create trust in the technology, with our customers, but also with our employees,” she opens.
She then explains Deutsche Telekom’s ethical guidelines, expressing that “humans still need to be in the driver’s seat,” while highlighting the various risks it imposes.
However, while sharing a personal anecdote, Bohle warns that we must stay vigilant when using AI tools.
There’s research to show that we are losing critical thinking because of AI,” she says.
“We blindly use GPS, then realize we have ended up somewhere we shouldn’t have ended up. We’re unlearning how to read a map.
“And if we think of these hallucinations, we need to be able to sense when something is wrong.”
Bohle continues to discuss other prevalent topics, including AI’s impact on employee experience, and key takeaway points for HR leaders.
