Graduating in French / Spanish from Saint Andrews University, Alastair began his career in the hotel industry in HR and L&D roles for companies such as Radisson SAS and Inter-Continental, before moving sector to take up several HR roles in the recording industry, culminating as Head of Talent and Management Development for Universal Music International. He moved again with a number of roles at Barclays, eventually as Head of HR for Barclays’ UK Contact Centres, their Home Finance, and General Insurance businesses, overseeing HR support for approximately 7,000 UK employees.
Alastair joined Interpublic, one of the world’s major advertising groups in 2006, starting his career with IPG in their media division as HR Director, EMEA, subsequently promoted to Chief HR Officer for Mediabrands in 2010, a role that oversaw HR for 13,000 people globally. In 2021, he moved to his current role at the Corporate HQ of Interpublic, as SVP Global Strategic HR Operations.
Alastair has lived and worked in France, Spain and the USA, though he currently resides in South West London with his wife and two teenage children, dividing most of his working time between there and New York, IPG’s Global HQ.
