Serge Betsen’s story began on the 25th March 1974 in Kumba, Cameroon. He arrived in France when he was 9 years old. There, he discovered rugby at the age of 12 at the club called Clichy la Garenne, starting what would be a lifelong passion.  Serge Betsen got his first cap with the French national team in 1997 against Italy. Nicknamed the “Grim Reaper” because of his famous tackles and fast starts, he is considered to be the best tackler in world rugby by many. He was the best player of the French championship in 2002. And in 2004 he was nominated for Best World Player by the IRB. In May 2008, he opened a new chapter of his life by signing for London Wasps, where he was Captain for two seasons before hanging up the boots for good.
