Talent acquisition platform SmartRecruiters has confirmed the appointment of Rebecca Carr as its new CEO.

Carr first joined the vendor back in 2014, holding a number of VP roles with the vendor before leaving for a three year stint with with background technology specialist, Checkr, in 2021.

She then returned to SmartRecruiters and took on the position of Chief Product Officer in August of last year.

In March this year, Carr took on responsibility as interim CEO following the departure of Michael DeSimone who spent a year at the helm.

"Rebecca not only knows our company and culture inside and out, but also has the visionary leadership and technology expertise to build for this new future in talent acquisition,” said Jerome Ternyck, SmartRecruiters’ Founder and Chairman, in a statement announcing the appointment.

“We look forward to having Rebecca continue to expand our global leadership position as we help enterprises worldwide attract and retain top talent."

Commenting on LinkedIn, Roy Baladi, founder of Jobs for Humanity and former Head of Marketplace and Communications at SmartRecruiters, celebrated Carr’s journey to the top with the vendor.

An 'exciting time' to take the reins in TA

As CEO, Carr has been handed the remit to drive corporate strategy and advance SmartRecruiters' talent acquisition technology as it embraces investments in deep learning, AI, and automation.

Speaking exclusively to UNLEASH, she said it was an "exciting time" to be a CEO in the talent acquisition space.

"The hiring game is changing fast, and the tools companies use today still aren't solving the root cause of their problem - they need to hire faster and smarter," Carr says.

"As a product leader, this position gives me the unique opportunity to embrace this challenge, drive differentiation, and prioritize products that harness AI to elevate the hiring process and create better solutions for all users.
